A bit of a grey day weather wise, we hopped on the 'Underground' train system (aka Tube) and left Heathrow airport heading towards the heart of London. The saying 'Mind the Gap' is frequently broadcasted over the PA system on the trains which quickly becomes the motto for day 1. Our first stop was to drop off our large travel backpacks in the hotel we were staying, which fortunately permitted us to check in early. For those with London knowledge, we are staying just a few blocks away from Monument tube station.
Once we got situated in the hotel, we headed out to the Tower of London. The Tower is a former castle which was used during the past 900 years for various things, but to mainly serve as the residence for London's royalty during the medieval times. We toured various chambers from the king's quarters to the dungeons where they would keep and torture prisoners. From there we came back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and a showing of the Phantom of the Opera in the theater where it was originally produced, absolutely terrific!
Thanks for checking in -

Fish and chips in front of the Tower of London - does it get any more authentic?
London is a large and busy city, similar to the UK's version of New York. Piccadilly Circus is a stop similar to Times Square.
